Vyasa Puja is that sacred time each year when devotees from around the world gather to offer their hearts, words, and gratitude to Srila Prabhupada. It is not just a ceremony—it is a celebration of the bond between spiritual master and disciple, and an affirmation of our service to His divine mission.
My favorite Vyasa Puja celebration was the year I wrote my first personal tribute to Srila Prabhupada. Until then, I had participated in kirtans, heard heartfelt offerings from senior devotees, and witnessed beautiful abhishekas. But that year, something changed. I sat down with a pen and paper and tried to put into words how Srila Prabhupada had touched my life.
That particular year, the atmosphere in the temple was especially warm and reverent. Devotees from all walks of life—elderly, young, children—paid their tributes. There were tears, laughter, memories, and realizations. The sense of unity was overwhelming. We were all connected through one person: Srila Prabhupada. Despite our different routes, languages, and cultures, we were there with one purpose – to glorify our eternal guide.
But what made that year most memorable was not the grand decorations or the lavish feast – it was the personal connection I felt. For the first time, Vyasa puja was not just an event. It became a moment of deep reflection. I didn’t just admire Srila Prabhupada from afar; I began to feel my responsibility to carry on his mission, in whatever small way I could.
That year taught me that Vyasa puja is not just about offering beads and words – it is about offering ourselves. It is about rededicating our lives to the service of Krishna, just as Srila Prabhupada did, with fearlessness, tireless work, and total faith.
And so, every year since then, I return in that spirit.
