This one line is simple, bold and universal. It comes not from ambition, but from compassion. Srila Prabhupada was not trying to start an organization for fame or followers. He came to fulfill the desire of his spiritual master – to share Lord Krishna’s message with every soul in every corner of the world.
At a time when most people had never heard the name “Krishna,” he took to the streets of New York with only his faith, his books and the Holy Name. In just 12 years, he circled the globe 14 times, established more than 100 temples, initiated thousands of devotees and translated volumes of Sanskrit scriptures with deep, devotional insight.
He did not want to convert anyone. He wanted to connect everyone – to the divine within, to the beauty of the Holy Name, and to purposeful living beyond birth and death.
