Rank Your Daily Practices Inspired by Srila Prabhupada

Srila Prabhupada didn’t just teach philosophy—he gave us a way of life. His instructions were clear, practical, and rooted in the eternal wisdom of the Bhagavad-gita and the Srimad-Bhagavatam. Over the years, incorporating his teachings into my daily routine has brought structure, meaning, and transcendental purpose to my life.

  1. Chanting the Hare Krishna maha-mantra (japa)

Top of the list, of course, is chanting 16 rounds of the Hare Krishna mantra every day. Srila Prabhupada emphasized this more than anything else. It is the heart of the spiritual life, the purifying power of the mind, and our direct connection to Krishna. On days when I chant with full attention, everything else in my life flows with greater clarity and devotion. Even when I struggle, the effort itself feels like service.

  1. Reading Srila Prabhupada’s books

Daily reading of the Bhagavad-gita As It Is, the Srimad-Bhagavatam, or the Nectar of Devotion keeps me grounded. Even a few verses are meaningful, providing infinite depth. Prabhupada’s commentaries are like daily conversations with a spiritual master. Reading builds faith, expands understanding, and reveals subtle layers of Krishna consciousness that I would not otherwise see.

  1. Mangala arati and morning program (as much as possible)

Although I cannot always be at the temple, following the morning program set by Prabhupada—starting with Mangala arati, Tulsi puja, and guru puja—is transformative. When I honor this sacred time, even at home, the day feels full of spiritual energy. Srila Prabhupada wanted this structure to anchor our consciousness in Krishna’s lotus feet from the very beginning of the day.

  1. Honoring Krishna-prasada

Eating food offered to Krishna is a joyful, sacred act of devotion—and a powerful purifier. Srila Prabhupada taught that prasada is spiritual food, and it deeply affects our consciousness. Making this a daily habit means that every meal becomes an offering, a meditation, and a form of service.

  1. Share Krishna consciousness (even in small ways)
Whether it’s distributing a book, sharing a quote online, singing a bhajan, or talking to someone about Krishna – even if it’s just once a day – this practice feels like fulfilling Srila Prabhupada’s wish. He said repeatedly that the best way to show our gratitude is to pass this knowledge on to others. It may not always be grand or public, but even a small seed can grow into a spiritual revolution.
